Please follow these guidelines in posting and commenting.

STYLE

§ Please use the Author-Date system in the Chicago-Style Citation Quick Guide. (Page defaults to Notes and Bibliography system; click tab to see Author-Date system.)
§ Follow Mechademia style for Romanized names and titles of manga and anime, including translations. Use macrons for long vowels rather than a carat/circumflex accent.
§ Please use only inline citations, not footnotes or endnotes. Notes with anchor links are not necessary.
§ Email submissions are fine, either as HTML or plain text. There is no need to use Word (or equivalent) unless you wish to.

STANDARDS

Please do:

§ Use your real name.
§ Write about yaoi, BL, m/m romance/erotica, gay romance/erotica, and other topics as may be related to them.
§ Strive for accuracy.
§ Defend your argument(s) or thesis.
§ Attribute and verifiably document assertions of fact, citations, quotes, and other source information.
§ Be free of conflicts of interest, as well as the appearance of such. If conflicts exist please disclose them.
     Example: A writer affiliated with a larger group, such as a university, a publisher, another blog, or a fan convention, must disclose its name and their relation to it.
§ Correct inaccuracies in your post(s) or comment(s) in a timely manner.

And don’t:

§ Plagiarize.
§ Obtain information in an unethical manner.
§ Personally attack or criticize any individual, or use hateful speech.
§ Rely on or promote exclusionary or stigmatizing stereotypes or prejudices.

LINKS

§ Hyperlinking to images is OK if the images are necessary to your argument and are not obscene or otherwise unlawful in the United States. Links to copyrighted images must follow the fair-use guidelines below.
§ Inline linking (hotlinking, bandwidth theft) to images is not permitted.
§ Linking to AMVs (vids) and mashups is OK.
§ Do not link to Web sites with unsafe or illegal matter. Sites that expose a computer to malware or viruses would be considered unsafe.

IMAGES

§ Erotic images are OK to post if the images are necessary to your argument and are not obscene or otherwise unlawful in the United States. Please note the section on copyright below.

COPYRIGHT

§ We follow the fair-use exemption in United States copyright law, Title 17 §107-118. See U.S. federal guidelines at: http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html.
§ In general, copyrighted manga / dōjinshi panels and covers are OK to post, as long as the use falls within the above fair-use guidelines and the image source is provided in your post or by linking the image to the page on which it appears.
§ In general, full page(s) from copyrighted manga / dōjinshi are not OK to post. The editors may make an exception if the entire image needs to be shown to support your argument and otherwise falls within fair-use guidelines.
§ In general it is OK to quote excerpts from fan fiction and from Web sites, forums, or other media, and to use screenshots of such, as long as these are discussed, attributed and, if online, linked to.
