SCOPE:

This blog discusses yaoi, Japanese boys’ love, male/male romance and erotica, and gay romance and erotica in different genres and forms from a perspective of scholarly inquiry.

EDITOR BIOS:

DruDru Pagliassotti is a professor of communication at California Lutheran University. With Kazumi Nagaike and Mark McHarry she is guest co-editing a themed issue on boys’ love of the Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics (Routledge). With Antonia Levi and Mark McHarry, she edited a collection of essays published in 2010, Boys’ Love Manga (McFarland). She has published research on BL manga in Intersections: Sexuality in Asia and the Pacific and Particip@tions: Journal of Audience and Reception Studies. Dru also edits and writes fiction.

Mark McHarry is an independent scholar. He has contributed to books, scholarly journals, and critical popular publications, including Mangatopia: Essays on Manga and Anime in the Modern World (Libraries Unlimited); LGBT Identity and Online New Media (Routledge); Queer Popular Culture: Literature, Media, Film, and Television (Palgrave Macmillan); Encyclopedia of Erotic Literature (Routledge); Transformative Works and Cultures; Intersections; Journal of Homosexuality; Z magazine; and Gay Community News (Boston).
